Overview
Created in a Western University product design sprint context, the featured screen shows an Updates feed for Ontario Hall. Location, Map, and Friends provide three visible ways to frame discovery, with Location selected in the presented design.
Context
Give a social feed a sense of place
The Updates screen introduces its browsing modes before the feed begins. A segmented control places Location alongside Map and Friends, making the discovery choices visible without pulling attention away from the current view. The selected location then appears as a compact heading above the posts.
In the featured design, Ontario Hall is the shared context. That placement gives otherwise informal updates a clear point of connection: people are seeing moments associated with the same campus location.
Content
Make everyday updates easy to read
Post cards combine a small avatar, author name, elapsed time, and short text. A photo can sit directly beneath the update, preserving the connection between the caption and the moment it describes. The repeated card structure supports both image-based posts and shorter text updates in the same feed.
Light borders, white surfaces, and generous spacing keep the content hierarchy quiet. A serif Updates heading adds character, while the smaller interface labels stay simple and readable around it.
Participation
Keep the next action close
The bottom navigation stays visible as posts continue down the screen. Its blue plus button stands out from the neutral navigation icons, giving the act of sharing a clear visual priority. A Manage post control beneath the featured update also makes an author's content-management action visible in context.
Together, these decisions frame the feed as a place to participate as well as browse. The concept keeps the location, the current conversation, and the entry point for a new update within one compact mobile view.
